IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup Car Is Unleashed

Hyundai Motor Company has officially introduced the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car. Unveiled during the official practice round of the Hyundai N Festival motorsports event, this innovative electric racing car is set to revolutionize sustainable racing.

Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable racing was echoed by Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand & Motorsport, who expressed immense pride in the unveiling of the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car. He emphasized the vehicle’s embodiment of cutting-edge technology and the company’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicles (EVs) on the racetrack.

Derived from the award-winning IONIQ 5 N high-performance EV, the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car inherits its power electronics system, offering a robust powertrain and enhanced battery capacity. With a power output of up to 650 PS and exceptional durability for intense circuit driving, this electric racing car showcases the pinnacle of Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) technology.

The eN1 Cup car features several upgrades tailored for circuit performance, including slick tires, a redesigned body kit for improved aerodynamics, and various lightweight measures. Safety enhancements such as roll cages, racing bucket seats, and specialized fire extinguishers further underline Hyundai’s commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards in EV racing.

Notably, the introduction of the eN1 class within the Hyundai N Festival marks a significant milestone in EV racing. Operating under open regulations, the eN1 class provides a platform for teams to explore various tire products, fostering innovation and competition within the EV motorsport sector.

With the upcoming season serving as a trial period for EV racing, the Hyundai N Festival aims to facilitate the growth and development of Korea’s motorsport culture.

The eN1 Cup car will undergo rigorous testing and refinement throughout the season, accompanied by advancements in charging infrastructure and emergency response protocols.
