McLaren’s Lando Norris seized his maiden Formula 1 victory, while Red Bull Racing Max Verstappen finished 2nd and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in 3rd.

During the early phases of the race, Norris held sixth position while his teammate, Oscar Piastri, made an impressive start, hinting at a potential upset. However, a well-timed Safety Car intervention during the midpoint favored Norris, who capitalized on an extended opening stint.

Emerging from the pits as the frontrunner, Norris defended his lead against Verstappen’s relentless pursuit post-restart. Displaying remarkable composure and skill, Norris maintained his position, leaving Verstappen to grapple with balance issues.

With a flawless drive thereafter, Norris left behind the disappointment of previous near-misses, securing victory after 110 attempts. Verstappen settled for second place, facing challenges behind the wheel, while Charles Leclerc clinched third ahead of Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz.  Post-race Sainz was handed a penalty do to a collision with Piatri, ultimately rendering the outgoing Ferrari driver in 5th.

The midfield put on a show, as many battles were ongoing through the GP.

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell salvaging crucial points for Mercedes. Yuki Tsunoda secured seventh for Red Bull, followed by Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin in ninth and Esteban Ocon of Alpine scoring the team’s first point of the season in tenth.

Daniel Ricciardo struggled to 15th place after an impressive Sprint, with Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll following suit.

The battle between Stroll and Williams’ Alex Albon resulted in a penalty for Stroll, while Albon concluded the race in 19th, trailing Kevin Magnussen of Haas.

The 2024 F1 Miami GP was McLaren’s first win since Riccardo at Monza in 2021.
