Jaguar Comeback Ignites 2026 Season
Mitch Evans Wins Wet & Wild Formula E Miami E-Prix
The 2026 Formula E Miami E-Prix proved exactly why electric racing is one of the most unpredictable and strategic series in motorsport — and why you should never count Mitch Evans out.
In soaking wet conditions, the Jaguar TCS Racing driver stormed from P9 on the grid to victory, delivering one of the most calculated and emotionally satisfying drives of the season so far.
And honestly? We couldn’t be happier for him.
A Comeback Drive Miami Won’t Forget
Evans arrived in Miami under pressure. After failing to score in the opening two rounds, his championship hopes already looked shaky. But Formula E is a series built on precision, patience, and energy strategy — and Evans mastered all three.
Instead of forcing early moves, he played the long game:
- Carefully conserved energy in the early stages
- Timed his Attack Mode activations perfectly
- Let the race come to him as others battled
Then came the moment.
On Lap 28, Evans pulled off the move of the race — a bold switchback overtake on Nico Mueller at Turn 13 that put the Jaguar at the front. From there, it was clinical. He managed battery life, controlled pace in the rain, and crossed the line 3.151 seconds clear.
It wasn’t just fast — it was smart racing. Classic Evans.
Why This Win Feels Bigger Than Just One Race
We’ve been following Mitch Evans’ journey with Jaguar since his early days with the team, and last season was tough to watch. The pace was there, but results just didn’t line up. Miami felt different.
This wasn’t luck.
This was composure.
This was a driver resetting his season.
If this race marks a turning point, the rest of the field should be concerned.
Mueller & Porsche Keep Pressure On
Behind Evans, Nico Mueller secured a hard-fought second after being locked in an early scrap for the lead with Felipe Drugovich. Completing the podium was Pascal Wehrlein, giving Porsche a double podium — a massive result in the manufacturers’ fight.
Wehrlein’s third-place finish carries championship implications too. With Nick Cassidy failing to score, the title gap shrinks to just two points heading into Saudi Arabia.
Game on.
Midfield Drama Shakes Up the Order
Miami wasn’t short on contact.
On Lap 26, Drugovich misjudged his braking into Turn 13 and rear-ended Antonio Felix da Costa, damaging both cars. Drugovich was forced to pit with a broken front wing, while da Costa continued but slipped down the order.
That incident helped open the door for Joel Eriksson, who delivered a standout drive to take a career-best fourth place for Envision Racing.
Elsewhere:
- Nyck de Vries led Mahindra’s charge in fifth
- Edoardo Mortara followed in sixth
- Sebastien Buemi climbed to seventh
- Pepe Marti secured more points in ninth
- Jake Dennis grabbed the final point in tenth
Defending champion Oliver Rowland finished a quiet 12th, while championship leader Cassidy struggled to 16th.
What This Means for the Formula E Championship
Momentum has shifted.
Evans’ victory reignites his season. Wehrlein tightens the championship fight. Cassidy suddenly looks vulnerable. And with Formula E heading to Jeddah for a double-header, the standings could flip quickly.
But Miami belonged to one driver.
A driver who stayed calm.
A team that stuck with him.
And a performance that felt like the start of something.
For Jaguar — and for Mitch Evans — this win felt personal.
