Did Lucid Set the Benchmark for a Luxury EV SUV?
FAST FACTS
- Powerhouse Performance: Lucid Gravity features an astounding 800 horsepower and can hit 0 to 100 in under 3.5 seconds, outshining Tesla’s Model X.
- Unmatched Range and Rapid Charging: With over 700 kilometers (400 miles) of estimated range and 200 miles recharge in 15 minutes – no more range anxiety.
- Luxury and Innovation: Step inside to find a lavish cabin with a massive 34-inch 6k screen and an optional 22-speaker sound system for the ultimate driving experience.
Power and Performance:
The Lucid Gravity, is poised to challenge the Tesla Model X in both power and performance. With up to 800 horsepower, coming from dual EV motors, the Lucid Gravity is projected to offer an impressive 0-100 acceleration of under 3.5 seconds, easily surpassing Tesla’s Model X.
Range and Charging:
One of the standout features is the Gravity’s remarkable estimated range of over 700 kilometres or 400 miles (real-world expected range 708km or 435mi).
Upon launch, all Lucid Gravity SUVs will come equipped with a variation of the dual-motor all-wheel-drive platform found in the sedan models, including the Dream Edition, Grand Touring, and Touring. While specific power outputs and battery sizes for the Gravity remain undisclosed, Lucid has confirmed the utilization of an evolved 900-volt architecture, and a potential to reach 800hp and beyond.
The highest-performing variant of the Lucid Gravity is anticipated to boast a range “in excess of 440 miles” and an impressive acceleration, reaching 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds. Highlighting its efficiency, Lucid has also stated that the ultrafast DC fast-charge rate can replenish 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes, positioning the Gravity as a frontrunner in electric vehicle technology.
Luxury:
Step inside the Lucid Gravity, and you’re greeted with a fusion of luxury and cutting-edge technology. Available as a 5-passenger, 6-passenger configuration or 3-row SUV with room for 7-passengers, the spacious front trunk, offering 8 cubic feet of storage space. A 34-inch floating screen with a 6k display dominates the cabin, while the optional 22-speaker surreal system caters to audiophiles, elevating the overall driving experience.
Driver Assisted Technology
DreamDrive and the Gravity’s safety suite serve as additional safety features, emphasizing their role as complements, not substitutes, for vigilant driving. These technologies are designed to enhance safety but should not be considered replacements for mirrors or the driver’s undivided attention; full reliance on them to prevent accidents is not recommended.
The Micro Lens Array headlights play a crucial role in providing essential visibility, adapting to oncoming traffic and terrain to facilitate a smoother, safer drive for all road users. Lucid’s sensors function as a supplementary set of eyes, assisting with lane centring, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot detection, and emergency braking, contributing to an overall heightened level of safety and awareness during your journey.
The Dilemma: Tesla Model X or Lucid Gravity?
As buyers weigh their options, the Lucid Gravity’s starting price below $80,000 adds a compelling dimension to the dilemma. This innovative electric SUV presents a formidable challenge to the established Model X, offering an enticing blend of performance, range, and luxury.
Delivery Date:
As we eagerly await, Lucid Gravity is set to hit the market in late 2024 as a 2025 model, accompanied by the Dream Edition.
The countdown has begun for consumers to embrace the future of electric luxury SUVs. The question remains: will the established leader hold its ground, or will the newcomer redefine the landscape? Only time will tell.
