Penske Secures Third Straight Cup Title & More
In a thrilling NASCAR Cup finale at Phoenix Raceway, Joey Logano claimed his third championship, becoming the active driver with the most titles. Logano took the lead on a pivotal Lap 259 restart, skillfully passing several Championship 4 rivals, including William Byron and teammate Ryan Blaney. Fifty-four laps later, he crossed the line 0.330 seconds ahead of Blaney, securing victory for Team Penske.
Logano’s path to the top was far from smooth. Early in the race, his team faced setbacks on pit road, even needing a replacement jackman due to illness. Despite these challenges, Logano led 107 laps, supported by expert guidance from spotter Coleman Pressley, who helped him keep Blaney at bay.
The win was significant, marking Logano’s fourth career victory at Phoenix and tying him with NASCAR legends like Lee Petty and Tony Stewart with three Cup titles. Team Penske celebrated its third consecutive championship win, following Logano’s 2022 title and Blaney’s in 2023.
Behind Logano and Blaney, Byron finished third, followed by Larson and Bell. Notably, the race also marked a season of farewells.
- Veteran Martin Truex Jr. completed his final race as a full-time driver, finishing 17th;
- Stewart-Haas Racing closed operations;
- Kyle Busch’s impressive 19-year streak of wins ended.
Logano’s win capped off an intense season, solidifying his place among NASCAR’s elite with a third championship
