Swedish car brand Polestar announces its 2024 Design Contest in collaboration with Hot Wheels, promising an electrifying fusion of imagination and performance.

Set in motion from Gothenburg, Sweden, Polestar teams up with Mattel’s Hot Wheels Brand for a high-octane design adventure.

This year’s design challenge invites creators to channel their inner child, infusing Polestar’s DNA into the ultimate Hot Wheels collectible. The contest aims for an electrifying leap forward in design.

Entrants are urged to unleash their creativity, pushing the limits of both performance and design. The only rule? Designs must translate seamlessly to a 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast vehicle.

Maximilian Missoni, Polestar’s Head of Design, encourages designers to dream big: “Let imagination soar beyond limits, driving innovation.”

Shortlisted participants will receive personalized coaching from Polestar’s design team, setting the stage for unparalleled creativity.

Ted Wu, VP and Global Head of Vehicle Design at Mattel, underscores the importance of design innovation: “We eagerly anticipate groundbreaking submissions, challenging conventions and sparking new inspirations.”

Since its inception in 2020, the Polestar Design Contest has attracted global talent, showcasing cutting-edge concepts that redefine automotive design.

The synergy between Polestar and Hot Wheels debuted in 2023 with the unveiling of the Synergy concept car, a testament to collaborative creativity.

Juan Pablo Bernal, Interior Design Manager at Polestar, anticipates a fresh wave of innovation: “This year’s collaboration will blend Polestar’s minimalism with Hot Wheels’ exuberance, pushing designers to new heights.”

Mark your calendars: the competition opens on March 5, 2024, with submissions due by April 16, 2024. Polestar anticipates unveiling the winner in Q4 2024.
