Initially hailed as a promising successor to Jean Todt, Sulayem’s presidency quickly descended into turmoil.

One of the most significant controversies surrounding Sulayem’s presidency revolves around his handling of disciplinary issues within the FIA. Critics argue that Sulayem has shown favoritism towards certain teams and drivers, leading to accusations of bias and unfair treatment. His inconsistent approach to discipline has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the sport.

Moreover, Sulayem’s leadership has been called into question due to his controversial remarks on various social and political issues.  His comments have sparked outrage among fans and stakeholders, further tarnishing his reputation as a leader. Many believe that his statements have crossed the line of professionalism and brought discredit to the FIA.

Despite these controversies, Sulayem has remained defiant, refusing to acknowledge the validity of criticism levelled against him. His unwillingness to address concerns and take responsibility for his actions has only served to deepen the rift between him and the motorsport community. With each passing controversy, his credibility as a leader continues to erode.

As the FIA President, Sulayem’s primary responsibility is to uphold the integrity and reputation of the sport. However, his tenure has done little to inspire confidence in his leadership abilities.

Ben Sulayem had big shoes to fill when replacing Jean Todt. He not only failed, but he’s succeeded in embarrassing the sport of F1.
