Lights, Stars, and Surprises – A Grand Weekend in Sin City with F1
In the heart of the iconic Las Vegas Strip, the first-ever F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix since 1984 unfolded, defying the chilly temperatures to attract an impressive 315,000 fans. With over $500 Million spent in preparations, expectation’s were high in Sin City.
The weekend kicked off with a twist, as F1 Liberty Media, undeterred by a failed first practice attempt that saw Scuderia Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz ripping apart the track. Making matters worse, fans were asked to leave the event only minutes into opening practice.
As event organizers caught flack all over the internet and social media, it was F1 Mercedes AMG Team boss, Toto Wolff who vigorously defended Liberty Media and on-site organizers of the event.
Star-Studded Spectacle and On-Track Drama:
The Las Vegas Sphere provided a stunning backdrop, complemented by graphics that elevated the three-day extravaganza. Celebrities like Shaq, David Beckham, Rob McElhenney, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Martin Garrix, Will-I-Am, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, Diplo, Usain Bolt, Gordon Ramsay, Guy Fieri, Kylie Monroe, and many more added glamour to the event.
On track drama unfolded as lights went out. A charging Alonso spun out, causing chaos and effecting more than a few unlucky bi-standards like Valteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton. Laps later, McLaren’s Lando Norris found himself in the wall, prompting a yellow flag, and later hospitalized for precautionary reasons. Hard chargers included Lewis Hamilton, Russell with a penalty, Stroll, Alonso, and Ocon.
Charles Leclerc’s One-Stop Masterclass and Red Bull’s Historic Season
Driver of the day, Charles Leclerc of Scuderia Ferrari, showcased brilliance with a one-stop strategy, passing Sergio Perez for second place. Red Bull Racing set a record with 20 wins in a season, securing 1st and 2nd in the championship for 2023.
Grammy Award winner Justin Bieber waved the checkered flag, concluding the thrilling race weekend. The final showdown awaits in Abu Dhabi in one week. Don’t miss the climax of an unforgettable F1 season!
