Coolest Video You’ll Watch All Day!
Despite all the drama going on behind the scenes at Red Bull Racing, it’s hard to deny how cool of a company they truly are at heart.
Take for example Red Bull Racing Technologies latest commissioned project of building the World’s Fastest Camera Drone to keep up with an F1 race car.
Its been a little over 2 weeks since Red Bull released footage of the drone build and results, and its already amassed over 15M views on YouTube alone, and that doesn’t include all the social media views.
The digital site, DroneDJ offered the best inside story of how the drone was built, but essentially here’s a summary:
- The FPV drone, resembling a rocket, was custom-made by Dutch Drone Gods for Red Bull Media House. Directed by “Quadmovr,” they meticulously balanced electronics, design, weight, and speed;
- Red Bull Advanced Technologies contributed aerodynamic fairings and lightweight motor mount arms, reducing the drone’s mass. Standard electronic components were used, with some powerful unreleased hardware;
- Trials at Formula 1 tracks with RB8 and RB19 cars, driven by Liam Lawson and David Coulthard, refined steering, braking, and camera control. Drone pilot Shaggy FPV, experienced in following MTB bike athletes, prepared with simulations;
- Mastering cornering, acceleration, and battery management while following a Formula 1 car was a new challenge for Shaggy FPV. Precision control via radio controller and goggles was crucial for close-up shots;
- The drone had to match the agility of an F1 car, impacting battery life. After a year of hard work, the successful shoot proved its worth.
Now stop reading and watch the video because it’s AMAZING!
