In the ever-evolving automotive landscape, there are few names as iconic and revered as Cadillac. Synonymous with luxury, innovation, and sophistication, Cadillac has consistently pushed the boundaries of automotive engineering. And now, the wait is finally over for automotive enthusiasts around the world as Cadillac announces the release of its highly anticipated masterpiece – the first-ever Cadillac Escalade IQ.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The IQ is built on the same flexible-Ultium battery platform as the Celestiq, Lyriq and Hummer EV, however its been customized to fit the speed, range, towing, size and weight of the IQ.
- The IQ is AWD and can produce up to 750eHP with the 785 lb-ft., of toque
- The overall range is 450miles, or 724 kilometres when full braking regeneration is activated
- When using a public 350 kW DC Fast charging tower, the IQ can add up to 100miles or 160 kilometres of range in about 10 minutes.
- Towing is maxed out at 8,000lbs., which is actually more than the ICE version of the Escalade depending on which powertrain you select; so that’s impressive
- As for cargo space, the IQ offers way more than the regular gar powered Escalade; overall cabin volume space is estimated to be 119.2 cu.ft., or 3,375L that’s before the eTrunk space is included, which offers an additional 12.2 cu.ft., or 340L.
To manage the weight and performance distribution of the Escalade IQ, it will be equipped with custom- standard 24” aerodynamic wheels, surrounded by Michelin tires which have also been customized to fit the weight and size of the IQ.
Moving into the interior. If I thought the OLED system was amazing in the 2021 Escalade I reviewed, well hands down this pillar to pillar 55” Curved Coloured Full LED screen is AMAZING!
The infotainment system will offer Google Built-in, with Google Assistant® Google Maps, Google Play and an Auto 5G Modem-RF system. The infotainment system features will also be accessible via touch, or Multi-Control Dial.
There’s a lower 11” Centre Screen which will control the HVAC system, heating, ventilation and massage comfort for the front seats.
The IQ is a 3-Row, full-size SUV equipped to carry up to 7-passengers.
The 2nd row seats will be offered as Captain’s chairs, but trust me, when you’re configuring your IQ go for the elevated Executive 2nd Row Package, it’s going to be worth the investment. From the screens, connectivity and comfort perspective; you’re going to want all of it, and your passengers will love you for it.
I wasn’t allowed to sit on the 3rd row bench, but they look similar to the previous Escalade I experienced, so stay tuned for more on that.
As expected Driver Assisted technology will be impressive with Super Cruise, HD Surround View Vision; Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, Pre-collision Emergency Braking and Blind-Spot Monitoring; just to name a few.
